Bilingual Radio Station is coming to Yuma County!

Somerton, Ariz. – Campesinos Sin Fronteras (CSF) is preparing for their first RADIO SIN FRONTERAS, Gala Dinner to raise funds to launch the first bilingual radio station in Yuma County.

"CSF’s mission and vision has always been to help improve the well being of our border communities in the best way possible.  Since Campesinos opened its doors in 1999, we have had continued growth and increased the diversity of our services for both field workers and low-income families", said Emma Torres, CSF Executive Director. "This new radio project in no way changes our service goals. We will continue helping our community with our radio station as a new avenue, but the same goal of improving the well being of our border residents."

KYMZ 99.9 FM will be known as “Radio Sin Fronteras /Radio without Borders” and will be operated by Campesinos Sin Fronteras, a non-profit agency based in Somerton, AZ.

"Operating a powerful radio station is another way of helping our community by keeping them well informed, offer entertainment and involving youth and local talent," she explains. “Through this Gala Dinner we are reaching out to our collaborators, friends, and agencies to request their support for this new project by contributing and participating in our gala dinner."

Torres said the radio station will have educational, informative and entertaining programming and will involve youth and local talent who are interested in the broadcasting field.

"This radio station will offer a variety of programming about personal and family health issues, community health, local events and community affairs, public affairs and cultural programming. KYMZ will offer cultural exchanges with local artists and our adjacent border Mexican communities serving as a platform for local artists, "Torres said.

“Radio Sin Fronteras KYMZ” will have a broadcast of 25 KW in frequency modulated 99.9 MHz and will be the third most powerful radio station in Yuma County, reaching a potential audience of more than 1.4 million people.

Through our Gala Dinner, we hope to not only raise funds for the radio station, but it will also be the celebration of the airing of KYMZ in early 2018.

Torres adds, "Join our celebration and help support Yuma County new bilingual educational radio station. We hope to see you there, it is for a great cause.”
